I suppose that there's no dealing with dumb. While Ciri was a big part of Witcher III: Wild Hunt, she wasn't the main character. Replacing him with her will take away a lot of the fun. She doesn't require his extensive mana collection or potion collection, and the only thing she's got going for her is her speed.

Part of the Wild Hunt game was Geralt romancing Yenifer and the other women from his past.

Maybe they are trying to alienate men from gaming. They do seem to be attempting to drive men out of every thing they enjoy.

One would hope there's enough people in the studio with the wisdom to recognize that precise mistake is a sizable part of what collapsed Netflix's show. It's not the only part, of course, but sidelining Geralt for Ciri starting in season 2 was a major point of contention for people who were still trying to give the show a chance, myself included. It's also one of the reasons many of us jumped off that wagon by or before season 2's end, again, myself included.

Unfortunately, having the wisdom to recognize the problem that would create won't mean much if nobody is willing to say anything. Take it with a grain of salt because the info is coming secondhand, but from what I've heard from some of the more connected independent media analysts and essayists out there, CDPR is really starting to feel that toxic positivity headache often caused by the DEI cudgel. Even if the majority of the designers recognize how this would irritate fans of the series, if nobody is willing to say anything because they fear being ostracized or driven out of their jobs, then this course, if it is being taken, won't be changed.

It is indeed a major problem of the industry. It takes a lot to understand what went wrong in order to figure out why something didn't take with the fans, and to find out what the fans want.

And then at other times, it's a top-down decision to enforce DEI practices, sometimes in order to tap government money, which is getting tiring for many organizations.

And I doubt it would be a "You're fired" only scenario. It would be "We will destroy every possibility of you having a job in the sector, including going indie" level of stalking and cancelling that might scare some, and by the time they've reached such a good job in a company like CDPR, that would mean years poured down the drain.

And yes, toxic positivity sucks. It's something that makes one want to FALCON, PAAAUUNCH! them so hard, it looks like it was straight out of a Mortal Kombat Fatality.

It might just be that, I suspect they wish to corner them ever more, reduce them to ever greater depression and drug-addiction and to destroy them. I'd say the stratagem is working, though what I've observed is that in some places not so much.

The trouble for the elites is that this collapsing their own system and source of power all the faster. Won't be long now, before globalism falls under and the elites will perish as they did in the 18th century.
