It was announced recently that Netflix has gotten the rights, and is pushing forward with a movie based on C.S.Lewis’ book series, Narnia, and got Greta Gerwig to be the director for the new series. As Netflix is reshuffling its entire business out of panic for shutting down, the book series is being readapted, yet again over this. Greta Gerwig has already worked on woke movies, such as Barbie, and is the screenwriter for the upcoming Snow Not-so-White (Seriously… What part of “skin as white as snow” don’t Hollywood Execs understand?) which should raise concerns.
About 20 years ago, a great adaptation by Andrew Adamson came out and really blew everyone out of the water. Hitting blow by blow from the books, “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” really wowed us with perfection. I watch the movie at least once a year, and see how he brought forth a great showing that blows me out of the water. As much as people criticize the next two movies, “Prince Caspian” and “Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, (The latter may have been directed by Michael Apted, but still) they were both really well-done, and are great movies in their own rights, as the entire cast came back. (Even though Apted could have changed cast due to a different studio taking control) We don’t need a new series, especially by a company that is known for being extremely woke and has a habit of deconstructing old classics.
I don’t care how much some may try to praise the opportunity, but being a catholic Bible study series, I don’t think a woman who converted away from Catholicism into being a Unitarian, in other words a member of a left-leaning religion, would be a good fit for the series, as there might be bias against a Catholic book series.
And looking at the cast is just scary. Edmund looks like he’s in his 20s, and looks just as old as Winona Ryder, the new Witch. The Pevensies look nothing alike (Which is the casting director’s job. To make sure that a cast actually looks like a family and have similar traits.) and the only thing I could say is, at least the actress for Susan looks like the old Susan. The Pevensies shouldn’t be adult stars, but child actors. Millie Bobby Brown is 20 years old.
I say that instead of looking forward to this movie, go take the three movies, sit down with the family and have a good marathon of movies that are perfectly made, and can really show us what Narnia is all about. As for these movies, let’s take some bets on figuring out which one’s going to be from the alphabet crew. I’m going to bet Susan. Maybe Aslan will be a black lion.

I wish streaming companies would leave good books alone. First they ruined The Wheel of Time. Then they ruined Tolkien with that travesty Rings of Power. Then they ruined Witcher. They've already ruined Star Trek and Star Wars. Maybe it's a good thing that Asimov's foundation won't give up the rights to his books.
The streaming services need to create original works, not destroy books that are already popular with people.
But, if they did that, nobody would watch them. Nobody wants to watch a mustached man play a woman, nor do they want want to watch badly written smut on TV.
The K,J and even C dramas are what are keeping Netflix alive. The only global “thing” that’s actually working.
