We’re gonna have a pretty standard month, though I’d encourage everyone to include some reference to sorrow and to glory, again but this time there’s a twist. The story must be about overcoming overwhelming odds and the courage and greatness of the human spirit. This challenge will be different from all others that have preceded it as you’ll have until the last day of January to finish your story.
There will also be a series of popularity polls done for the top 5 most popular stories which will be then edited by
who has agreed to lend his considerable talents towards this project. The contest will also include a crowdfund to help supply each winner with a 100$ USD cash prize to ensure that the effort is worth it. The particulars of the crowdfund will be sorted after Christmas (holidays not being a particularly good time for crowdfunding and all).
We plan to publish the resulting anthology some time around the end of Summer, with the idea being that each participant will also get a free copy of the book of course.
This will be something we do after a great many people expressed their wish for the expansion of Warrior Wednesday/Sword & Saturday. If you guys want you can also supply a name for the anthology title.
So without further ado here’s the challenge itself;
3,000-12,000 word short-story
Use the opportunity to build up your lore
Seriously do recommend any other name you think that could work. I quite like the ‘Ulyssean Age’ but won’t press forward without first consulting with people. I also could not resist teasing
a little, knowing how much he loves the genre. You can support
by upgrading your subscription over there (it’s only 8$) or by supporting the Crowdfund for Brotherhood of the Gemstone.
Okay: Is this strictly going to be a high fantasy/S&S anthology, or are other types allowed?
Also: are you going to give us an e-mail address to send stuff to, and give us a firm due date?
Triumph of the Dragon Crown Warsword is far too much for a non-japanese publication.
War Triumph of the Crown's Dragon?
Dragon Triumph Crown War?
This teller is having a little too much fun with this.
More seriously, he's tempted to try going all out. The issue with having a wealth of worlds and stories to choose from is in settling on one.
Might be minotaur time...
That or go full Elconic.
