The next prompt, is for October and we all know what that means…. HORROR!
Yep, this month’s gonna be all about chills and thrills, the fun of spreading terror in the streets!
We’ll be hoping that as we gather articles and essays and stories, over on our
substack we’ll see some respond to this prompt (which will be show-cased on this Warrior Wednesday event day so that no one misses this prompt!)Warrior Wednesday Prompt:
The tale must involve some element of horror, preferably monsters.
The Monsters must be defeated in the end, and the hero must triumph, and what do I mean by monster? Werewolves, Weretigers, werebunnies, were whatevers, Vampires, Zombies, Liches/Mummies, Necromancers, Homunculi, Invisible-Men, and so many others!
Story must be at least 9,000 words long
Sword & Saturday Prompt:
12,000 words long
Monsters, though if you go cosmic it should be defeated and humiliated, and we should see the hero triumph as said.
Our hero must have a moment of fear, or uncertainty before plunging on ahead as after all even Conan the Great experienced a few moments like those
There should also be something akin to the Black Circle or some other conspiracy involving the monster that the hero must defeat.
It’d be preferable if the hero comes from a civilized background just for a change, such as that of a knight, soldier, mage, scholar, shoe-maker or whatever, just for a change to heighten the fear and horror
Essay:
4 pages long
Tell us your thoughts on how Horror mixes with and interacts with Fantasy/Mythic fiction
Also you can analyze your favourite monsters
Art:
1 drawing involving our hero combating the monster
Or it can be inspired by one of the tales one of us crazy writers have written
Don’t forget to make a post of it so you can lay claim to the credit ;)
And that’s all so get creating folks!
Is there a limit to length? I think my Aos Sidhe vampiric Fae novel might fit. Llew, Badbh/Macha/Nemain/Cathbadua tale. Midnight Requiem.
An appropriate topic for October! I don't know if I'll have time, but I'll try to work it in.
